Health Information Management professionals are responsible for the development and administration of healthcare data collection and reporting systems that ensure the quality, integrity, availability, and preservation of data in support of patient safety, privacy, confidentiality and security. HIM professionals have expertise in the computer-based patient record, coding and classifications systems, quality and human resource management, as well as ethical, legal, regulatory and accrediting agency requirements.

Upon graduation, students are qualified to work as a Health Information Management professional, an Administrative Medical Assistant, a Medical Receptionist, a Medical Insurance Biller, and a Medical Records Specialist in physicians' offices, outpatient care centers, hospitals, chiropractors, nursing homes, and more. 

Health Information Management is a multi-skilled healthcare profession.
